Overview

Delivered a scalable, AI-driven employee transportation management platform for Commuto (US), designed to help enterprises efficiently manage corporate commute operations. The platform enables organizations to plan, optimize, and monitor employee transportation through intelligent routing, real-time tracking, centralized dashboards, and automated operational workflows. Built with a cloud-native architecture, the solution improves commute reliability, enhances employee safety, and reduces transportation costs for large, distributed workforces.

High Level System Design

Commuto’s system architecture is designed for reliability, scalability, and real-time responsiveness, leveraging modern cloud services and data-driven intelligence. The user-facing web and mobile interfaces provide operations teams and enterprise administrators with centralized dashboards for route planning, fleet monitoring, and employee onboarding. Backend services are built using serverless and microservice patterns, exposing secure APIs for trip scheduling, route optimization, live tracking, and operational controls.

AI and data-processing services continuously analyze commute data—such as pickup points, time windows, traffic patterns, and employee density—to dynamically optimize routes and vehicle utilization. Real-time trip data is ingested and processed through event-driven pipelines, enabling live status updates, ETA calculations, and exception handling. Core operational data, including users, routes, vehicles, and trip logs, is stored in scalable cloud databases optimized for high read/write throughput.

Notification systems are integrated to automatically inform employees, drivers, and operations teams about pickup schedules, delays, route changes, and incidents via email, SMS, or in-app alerts. Analytics and reporting layers aggregate historical trip data to generate insights around utilization, cost efficiency, punctuality, and service quality, enabling enterprise customers to make informed operational decisions.
